– now read my lips : this is NOT about IMAX 3D which has been covered extensively in my post few days ago –
this is if you want to go back for a SECOND viewing in 2D but still in Digital WITHOUT 3D glasses / goggles,
or if your city / town does NOT have an IMAX Theatre . all the same : enjoy ~

.

as of yesterday December 17th, counting down 2 weeks into 2010 – ‘The Year We Make Contact’, there are 2 kinds of human beings on Earth : those that HAVE been to the planet ‘Pandora’ and those who have NOT . although I deeply regret to inform you children that all this is NOT Real but ficticious from the mind of screen-writer, film director AND producer James Cameron, there are several /pleasant/ ways to make this /virtual/ journey while your SamSung Electronics Tango Robot Vacuum Cleaner takes care of your cozy house or intelligent, modern apartment in South Korea .. short of actually taking the space-ship to distant galaxies .

the Southern half of the Korean Penninsula, circa 2009 – centuries after nasty domestic AND horrid foreign rule, where only decades ago the grand-parents have narrowly escaped gruesome modern warfare, and then of parents living-out a series of harsh military dictatorship, where motion pictures were inspected in par with the propaganda machine of Nazi Germany – children AND child-at-heart elders in Techno-Korea today enjoy some of THE most advanced movie-viewing surroundings advanced technology can offer . I mean this in ALL sense of the word : from how the movies are made to how they are shown on-screen WITH stomach-whomping sound effects .. and all this preceived by the mind AND body in an incredible spacious, comfortable seat . and you gotta try it to believe it //

ofcourse this post will be edited and more information add on as most of my BLogs are, and even though I type /almost/ fast as in par with the Speed of Light, or so I /would/ like to believe 😉 all this takes precious TIME away from my life in the Real World, thus here I will start by mentioning Special Halls AND/OR Seatings available at CGV Theatres in South Korea for an extra-ordinary movie viewing . this is because while Lotte, MegaBox AND even newer independent movie theatres in dedicated buildings offer their own version of some of the visual AND/OR audio enhancements AND/OR premium seats mentioned below, CGV is considered more trendy because it has a ooh~ la~ la~ Europeen touch, the kind that offers Prada AND BMW .

this is a large departure from the days when a movie theatre had only ONE hall showing ONE single movie at a time, like in a small town . this only changed with the first of Korean multi-plex opening in belated 1997 in Techno-Mart on the East-end of Seoul, introduced in my ‘Electronics Buildings and Market / Districts in Seoul’ Page . the time over a decade ago coincides wit’h Korean start-up dot.com’s popping up to grab every Won of the spurging internet deal AND /also/ belated cable-TV slowly forming a new kind of “couch” shopping that would eventually full-fledge into the mass on-line shopping enjoyed today .

here movie theatre viewing halls are largely divided into 2 categories : movie theatres offering much enhanced video AND/OR sound, then there those which has much comfortable SEATS as well as viewing halls for special occasions .

[ Dummy’s Guide into enhanced Movie Versions ] this is how CGV Korea differentiates movies AND theatres currently and may differ from other theatres in Korea as well as other city or country . all of the 5 categories below differ in viewing price, with the most expensive IMAX 3D ticket almost 3 times the most cheapest Normal Matinee (first showing in the morning) . and guess what ? James Cameron’s ‘Avatar’ is showing in ALL of the following versions throughout the Korean Penninsula ! (Ouch that hurt so ~ good)

  • Normal – movies originally shot in film,
  • Digital 2D – movies showing from film BUT with digital sound;
  • Digital 3D – crisper digital movies AND sound;
  • IMAX DMR – normal movies enhanced into digital IMAX simulation;
  • IMAX 3D – movies originally shot in IMAX digital thus many times crisper viewing AND sound,

.

oh you think you got LOST (Season 6 comin’up in February 2010 !) trying to decide /which/ movie version to see ?
more choices await you in playing the ‘game’ Avatar !
