[ DEFINITION OF EGG – WHAT IS AN EGG ]

Egg, in consumer technology terms a decade past the Millennium,
is a portable modem that receives Korean WiBro (wireless broadband) signals
and converts to a wireless router that sends out Wi-Fi signals .

only the first generation of the original Egg was oval in the shape of a real chicken-laid egg, although double the size

the clever name borne of the usual marketing ploy stuck, due to several models saturating the market whose manufacturer and model number a nuisance to remember .

it is synonym to different names used in different parts on planet Earth
like Pocket WiFi and Mobile WiMax .

 

[ THE NEED FOR AN EGG – WHY USE AN EGG ]

Egg came at a time synchronized with the influx of Apple iPad,
whose Wi-Fi-Only models came a daunting W150,000 cheaper than its 3G models .

aside from the price factor : 3G is unbearably slow, although accessible anywhere where cell phone signals can reach you .

 

 

[ EGG USE – HOW TO USE AN EGG ]

1. roughly a half has built-in battery and the other exchangeable,
   charge it with applied cord and charger,
2. to put it ON : press the main button a few minutes,
   and OFF : again press the main button a few minutes,
3. LED light signals distinguishable by color :
   Red = (charging) on empty battery or (while in use) low battery
   Yellow = (charging) half-charged or (while in use) half battery
   Green = (charging) fully charged or (while in use) battery full

largely you have two choices :

1. buy it on-Line (always the cheapest) or at a telecommunications branch
   for common retail price of W120,000 and sign-up for monthly usage or
2. subscribe to a 1 or 2 Year contract with incredible discounts

where the need for the former is almost negligable, for the latter comes with lucrative benefits as :

• NO Sign-Up Fee,
• NO mandatory insurance on device,
• FREE usage on the first 3~6 Months INCLUDED in the mandatory usage length,

 

[ BUYING PROCEDURE ]

most on-Line stores subscription will be 2 Years
but many related on-Line communities have group discount subscription of a Year .

you simply fill out their form on-Line or sent by Fax
and they will usually send by pre-paid courrier the next day .

as if by government order decree, various models are made in succession by a handful of manufacturers
where if you have signed-up with a cell phone carrier : they will tell you a number to contact .
