while it is a pitty almost NONE of the notebook or laptop makers or importers supply a quality pouch, carrying case or bag although they DO fit snuggishly inside for safe-keeping on-the-go, you may see this as a chance to shop around for one that matches your style in looks as well as travel . for my new heavy AND powerful Dell Studio 15 a 15″ LCD’er I couldn’t find one that tickles my portable fancy neither in Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, China, the States nor even in European brands but found a mix-and-matchable system carrying case AND bag perfect with selectable pouches in none other than the ultimate mecca of all thing electronic in da whole-wide World : Yodobashi-Akiba in the Akihabara Electronics District of Tokyo, Japan . yep you can get the black models both in outer bag AND inner pouch where a few are imported into Korea, but hey when Dell offers such plasmic colors on the exterior of its new Studio 15 line, you gotta get on the rainbow ~

.

.

first I should note the short-comings of outer design where the fabric is frail AND thin, with plain cheap-looking again : thin bolts holding down the handle AND corners of the bag . so design-wise I chose this model for the color, and the rest for useability as mix-and-match system is capable INSIDE the bag . not much of pockets outside for on this model you put things INSIDE in the pocket-full of pouch offered as an extra option .

size-wise, you can see from the overlapping size of Dell Studio 15 that it will fit perfectly WITHOUT an inch to twitch . so the /only/ option if you wanna put something into the bag is on the thicker vacant space on either sides inside the bag .

Dell Studio 15 measures 37 x 25 x 3.9 cm. in dimension and weighs 2.5kg – a bit heavy to carry around, especially on tiring journeys -_- but once opened its wide screen offers desktop-like performance with two windows open for work . depending upon the CPU you pick it touts quite a colorful choice of exteriors in Red, Purple, Light Green, Blue – all very bright for a notebook or laptop – OR Black with marble motive .

.

.

the outer bag comes with a simple no-pocket pouch that again holds Dell Studio 15 perfectly . the other inner pouche WITH pockets are bought as separate pieces with color combinations shown at the bottom of this page WITH actual price in Japan . almost all the pockets you need for power supply, extra batteries, memory cards AND two cell phones 😉

South Korea has most of the basic models above but only in black and selling a slice more than Korean currency conversion of above discount rates – at smaller independent On-Line Stores .

( March 24th 2012 Update ) two-and-a-half years after this initial post some vertical models and orange color variations are gone perhaps due to low sales .

if you like what you see, you will think you died gloriously and landed up in Heaven when you can make it to the two largest consumer electronics-dedicated mammoth building in Japan : Yodobashi Umeda in Northern Osaka and Yodobashi Akiba in Eastern Tokyo . I mean, geez ~ not all of the above and more although from lesser manufacturers .

I understand, if you don’t have time for a shopping spree to minimize ratiation exposure I saw some near-good inner cases in Haneda and Narita Airports both serving the Capital of Tokyo . but know that the general stores OUTSIDE check-in and boarding areas contain more goodies than in the duty-free zone where you would ultimately go for European liquors and fashion brands ..
