  • resale price of older iPhones in 3GS, 4 and 4S differ vastly depending on existence of warranty remaining . prices above are those which HAVE warranty valid, so take a good W100,000 OFF on those without 0o0 even then, iPhone has much retaining value compared to SamSung Galaxy ! who saturate the market with meaningless number of models, atuned with marketing ploys to increase Official subscription numbers .
  • remember iPhone 5 was released onto South Korea a whopping THREE Months (December) after US (September) last year 2012, so the oldest phone still has a good FOUR Months warranty left,
  • also perhaps because it was a late import : retail price was unprecedentedly low, especially when signing up with a carrier – as low as W650,000 for 32GB, instead of buying the empty “unlocked” model from Apple Korea On-Line Store, which is the ONLY Official Apple Store in South Korea to-date . so I repeat : there still is NO brick-and-motor “Apple Store” on the Korean Peninsula -_-
  • it is common practice nowadays and taken for granted : a USED portable device to include clear LCD protection film and dedicated bumper or case .
  • mostly because there is NO Official Apple Support Center in South Korea : locals are handed refurbished equals, when they take it for repair to one of about two-dozen Apple-contracted support centers throughout the Peninsula . thus a common resale ploy : is to keep the scratches and what-ever small mishaps building-up while in use, then go get a refurbished model just before deciding to sell, to fetch-up a good W50,000 on top of above prices . i.e., the sale would NOT be “used” but a “new-refurbished model”.
  • NEW subscription on 3G and LTE model prices are hard to calculate, due to fluctuating discounts from cellular carriers, thus here showing unlocked models ONLY offered from Apple Korea On-Line Store, while some exception are made from carriers noted above under “Store”.

( October 22nd Update ) might be a great time to buy close-out models as new release of iPad nears, prices are dropping although NOT much as Apple devices impressively retain value much more than other tabs . especially many are ditching their newly-bought iPad Mini in anticipation for Retina display, and an unopened one can be had W30,000~50,000 on above price or W30,000~50,000 below on 2~3 Month usage with ample warranty left !

although NOT massive exodus like preceding years, deal-seekers have a wild turkey shoot as everyone sought to sell their iPhone 5 . for comparison’s sake : a clean iPhone 5 32GB WHITE without scratches, with ample warranty left can be had at W520,000 with all accessories intact . black is more rare, while those with signs of usage ponder down another W100,000 – so here you understand Korean’s obsession for protective screens and dedicated cases .

good to witness not many how are concerned with inevitable LCD deformities coming from cost-effective mass production : such as light leakage (especially on corners and sides) and bad or dead pixels as screen resolution get higher as years advance .

add to this, there are quite a number of companies buying AND selling used cell phones and not just iPhones to export to third-world countries, plus telecommunication companies are buying-in used ones under their own program – W440,000 for a clean iPhone 5 currently . so individual trade fetch in-and-out about WW50,000 higher than selling to and buying from companies .
